Ron & Debbie Hughes started Granite Ridge Alpacas in 2003 with 3 female Suri's.  Their investment has significantly grown to 13 Suri's of which 8 are pregnant and due to have babies this spring.  That's a solid return on investment in anyone's books!

They started their Alpaca Ranch based on their love of nurturing and caring for animals.  Their philosophy which is "Attaining excellence through quality breeding" has born much fruit in the quality of their Suri Alpacas as well as the fact that they have some of the finest Alpaca fiber in the area. 

Alpaca fiber is hypo-allergenic, significantly warmer than wool, extremely strong and light weight.  In fact it's referred to as the "Gold of the Andes" and offers the ultimate in high fashion!

They enjoy the tremendous tax benefits that Alpaca Ranching affords.  It also provides them with substantial write offs as they experience the enjoyment of traveling around our fine country and making new friends as they visit other Alpaca Ranches.
